ADAM DIX
Lives and works in London
Adam Dix’s work depicts a world of community and ritual, moving between analogue and digital media through a blend of folk customs, religious ceremony and contemporary communication. His muted palette and hazy imagery anchor the work in a time of historical optimism, recalling the imagined futures of an earlier age and linking today’s technology to its 1950s origins.
The result invites the viewer into a secular celebration, while gently questioning past and present forms of social networking.
Working in painting and, more recently, stained glass, he explores the borderland between the real and the virtual, and how we adapt to new ways of communicating.

Adam Dix studied Graphics and Illustration at Middlesex Polytechnic (BA, 1990) and Fine Art at Wimbledon College of Art (MA, 2009). In 2023 an Arts Council award took him to the Architectural Glass school at Swansea College, and stained glass now sits alongside painting in his practice. His work features in 100 Painters of Tomorrow (Thames & Hudson, 2014) and is held in collections including those of Fatima Maleki, Anita Zabludowicz for 176 Gallery, the Royal Collection of Monaco and University of the Arts London. He is represented by Candida Stevens, Guerin Projects, Obsolete Gallery and Zedes Gallery.
